Keith Haring - Crack is Wack
Keith Haring’s “Crack is Wack” handball court mural was painted in 1986 as a reaction to the growing crack-cocaine epidemic in NYC. Originally created with out the city’s permission, the mural was immediately put under the protection and jurisdiction of the City Department of Parks - which is why it still exists. (Located at 128th Street and 2nd Avenue.)

Keith Haring Bathroom Mural
In 1989, less than a year before his death, Keith Haring painted this hyper-sexual mural in men’s bathroom of the LGBT Community Center in Greenwich Village. The mural, titled “Once Upon a Time,” was for The Center Show, an art exhibit celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. In March of 2012, Haring’s work was restored by Sotheby’s chief auctioneer Tobias Meyer and his partner, art advisor Mark Fletcher.
